The Department of Quantitative Methods was established under the name "Statistics and Quantitative Methods Department" with the establishment of the college in 1404 AH corresponding to 1984 AD, which was called "College of Administrative Sciences and Planning", with the aim of teaching statistical and mathematical subjects needed by some departments of the college, and the department was created under the name "Quantitative Methods Department" in The academic year 1429/1430 AH, and it was also approved by the College Council to present the department for a bachelor’s program in the field of risk and insurance, which aims to prepare cadres in the field of insurance of all kinds, as insurance is one of the important economic sectors.
The department aims to introduce the student to the mathematical and statistical tools that he relies on in his studies of the courses offered by other departments, and also to enable him to analyze topics quantitatively and draw conclusions. The department also aims to acquaint the student with quantitative and applied aspects in areas related to the nature of college studies, such as banks, insurance authorities, financial and economic authorities, as well as developing the student's ability to practice quantitative methods in the different circumstances that the decision maker is going through in various areas of management. The department also seeks to activate smart partnerships with companies and relevant scientific departments to provide programs that meet the needs of the labor market.
The design of the content of the courses taught by the department - whether in the risk and insurance program or other programs in the college - has taken into account modernity and development, and to provide the student with the knowledge, skills and experiences that qualify him to work after graduating in the private and public sectors.
The department’s message stems from the university’s vision, mission and strategy aimed at serving the community in graduating qualified Saudi university youth who contribute to the development of how ministries and various government agencies and private sector companies and institutions use modern quantitative methods, and keep pace with scientific development as a result of the spread of the use of quantitative methods in all fields, especially in The field of administrative sciences, and to contribute in the near future, God willing, by offering graduate programs for graduates in the fields of risk, insurance and modern quantitative methods.
